After the cosmic rollercoaster that was March — eclipses, retrogrades, planetary shifts galore — April arrives with a different flavour. It’s less “hold on for dear life” and more “pause, reflect, realign.” This month is all about integration. The stars are gently asking: What have you learned? What are you ready to release? And what does your next chapter really look like?

With both Mercury and Venus going direct mid-month, and a powerful Full Moon in Libra lighting up relationship dynamics, it’s a potent time to tune into your inner knowing, get intentional, and take aligned action. Each sign has a unique invitation this month — whether it’s embracing fiery drive, clearing emotional residue, or grounding into joyful ritual.

We’re taking a sign-by-sign approach this time, giving each of you your own little astrological self-care prescription. Scroll to your sun (and rising!) sign to find your celestial guidance and your yoga practice of the month to support your body, heart, and spirit.

Let’s get cosmic. Let’s get grounded. Let’s make April count.

Aries (March 21 to April 19)
March was wild – Mercury retrograde in your sign, a Solar Eclipse in your sign, Neptune the planet of imagination entering your sign for a fourteen year sojourn. How are you feeling, dear one? It’s time to check in with yourself. After the March shake ups you’re emerging renewed at the start of your birthday year. If you have been paying attention you will know that lately the universe has been blessing you with revelations and downloads – even Mercury Retrograde’s delays were laden with hidden blessings. When Mercury, the planet of communication, stations direct on 7th April you will be able to see things with more clarity and by the end of the month you will be ringing in big changes. On April 13th there’s a full moon in your opposite sign Libra. It’s a time to reflect on relationship dynamics and an opportunity to usher in a new period of contentment in your romantic life. The key is to be intentional, know what you want to release in order to make space for the new that you are bringing in.

Yoga Practice of the Month: As you are on the verge of big changes I am prescribing breathwork and meditation so that you are tapped into your deepest intuition and able to make clear choices. Start with alternate nostril breathing to bring you into balance before the Full Moon in Libra and then find a nice guided meditation, lie down and recharge. You will emerge ready to make bold empowered choices.

Taurus (April 20 to May 20)
Taurus – you are ruled by Venus – the planet of beauty and love but until 12th April Venus is in retrograde motion. Venus retrograde amplifies feelings of nostalgia and may bring back old connections and memories from the past. The retrograde gave you an opportunity to review the past and make more informed decisions for the future. The good news is that, the day after Venus moves into direct motion, on 13th April we have a powerful Full Moon in Libra – Libra is also ruled by Venus. This is an opportunity to let go of old relationship dynamics that no longer serve you so that you can welcome in even stronger connections for the future. Clear the decks on Full Moon because the month ends with a New Moon in your sign on 27th April. This is your birthday season, your own personal cosmic New Year so take the time to perform a ritual on this day and set intentions for your year ahead.

Yoga Practice of the Month: As Venus is a big player in this month’s astrology and in yoga Venus connects to the Sacral Chakra and the Heart Chakra, this is a month for you to work with the hips and the heart. Long holds in straddle pose (Upavistha Konasana) before the Full Moon will help to release stuck energy. Towards the New Moon in Taurus try backbends such as camel pose (Ustrasana) and locust pose (Shalabasana) to open your heart to new and exciting possibilities on your very own personal astrological New Year.

Gemini (May 21 to June 20)
April gets off to a frenetic start with your ruler Mercury in retrograde motion until 7th April. Don’t rush to make any big decisions because your mind will become a lot clearer towards the end of the month. On the 13th April the Full Moon in fellow Air sign Libra will help you to release obstacles and to realign. Jupiter the planet of luck and expansion is still with you supporting your long term goals and visions but you are being asked to remain intentional. Ask yourself What do I want to bring in? With Jupiter in your sign until June, there is a golden opportunity to create the life you really want. Make sure you harness the energy.

Yoga Practice of the Month: I want you to harness that Jupitarian energy of luck and expansion. This means connecting with your higher self. Your higher self knows what is best for you but your need to get really quiet in order to hear the wisdom. This month, work with the yogic concept of sensory withdrawal (Pratyahara) to go inwards and connect to your inner wisdom. You can practice Pratyahara through snail pose (Karnapidasana) or by practicing Shanmukhi Mudra (cover your eyelids with thumb and index finger, ring finger on upper lip, little finger on lower lip, thumbs in ears) and Bhramari Breath (humming bee breath).

Cancer (June 21 to July 22)
April may feel like a month of achievement and completion for you, dear Cancerian. For the past few months, Mars, the planet of drive and ambition, has been moving in and out of your sign. For some of that time Mars was retrograde stalling plans and causing frustration but it has been in direct motion since 23rd Feb and since then you have been making steady progress. On 18th April Mars enters Leo and it’s a good day to stop and take note of what you have achieved since 4th Sept 2024, when Mars first entered your sign. Give yourself a pat on the back as it may feel like cherished plans are coming into fruition. Harness the New Moon in Taurus on 27th April to manifest financial abundance and material comfort.

Yoga Practice of the Month: The start of the month is dynamic and energetic. This is a good time to work with the element of fire – twists such as revolved triangle (Parivrtta Trikonasana) and revolved chair pose (Parivrtta Utkatasana) will help you to really harness the energy of Mars propelling you forwards on path. Towards the end of the month it’s time for release and surrender. Restorative Bridge Pose will help you to integrate and give you scope to pause, reflect and celebrate all your achievements.

Leo (July 23 to August 22)
Circle the 18th April in your diary because on that day Mars, the planet of drive and ambition, re-enters your sign. You may feel a surge of energy. You may suddenly feel more energetic and more powerful. It’s a great day to reflect on your ambitions because until 17th June you are going to have more energy to achieve them. The New Moon in Taurus on 27th April will get you focused on your career and work life. Don’t be afraid to ask the universe for exactly what you need because with Mars on your side you might just get it!

Yoga Practice of the Month: This is a month to work with energy locks (Bandhas) in your yoga practice. Mars represents the vital energetic force and if you want to harness Mars energy to your advantage you must learn to direct the energy. Working with energy locks in your practice helps to direct your Prana (life force). Staff Pose (Dandasana) is great pose to begin working with the concept of Bandhas as it invites you to engage all three of the main energy locks (Mula, Uddiyana and Jalandhara)

Virgo (August 23 to September 22)
April might get off to a hectic start as your ruler Mercury is still retrograde until 7th April causing delays and misunderstanding. Once Mercury is back in direct motion the road ahead for you, dear Virgo, will become a little clearer. On 14th March there was a total Lunar Eclipse in Virgo so you are still integrating and evolving. When we have an eclipse in our sign it brings an opportunity for profound personal development but with both Venus and Mercury retrograde you may still be digesting the messages of the eclipse. In mid April both Mercury and Venus will be back in direct motion and you may experience some profound positive shifts both in mood and circumstance. Harness the Full Moon in fellow Earth sign Taurus on 27th April as a moment to focus on self-care and realignment.

Yoga Practice of the Month: Grounding is always important for Virgos because Earth is your element but towards the beginning of April it’s even more important because Mercury is still retrograde. Focus on poses that connect you to the root chakra such as child’s pose (Balasana) and tree pose (Vrikshasana). Towards the end of the month you can harness the energy of the New Moon via nurturing somatic practices and EFT tapping.

Libra (September 23 to October 22)
April starts with your ruler Venus (the planet of beauty and love) in retrograde motion, helping you to make peace with the past. On 12th March Venus stations direct, just in time for you to really take advantage of the beautiful Full Moon Libra Full Moon on 13th April. Full Moons signal the end of a cycle and it’s an opportunity for you to let go of anything that no longer serves you with regards to love, partnerships and relationships. Venus is the planet of beauty and love and this month is predominantly focused on love – how can you bring more of it in? How can you break unhelpful patterns? How can you deepen existing partnerships? On 27th April there is a New Moon in Taurus (also ruled by Venus) giving you an opportunity to break old patterns and start a new story with regards to themes of love and beauty.

Yoga Practice of the Month: The first half of the month is a time to reflect and go inwards, perhaps examining the past from a new perspective. Inversions like shoulder stand (Salamba Sarvangasana) and legs up the wall (Viparita Karani) can help to shift perspectives. The second half of the month is about opening the heart to new joy so work with the heart chakra by wearing green and chanting the mantra “Yam”.

Scorpio (October 23 to November 21)
With your ruler Mars entering the Fire sign Leo mid-month, you may find yourself imbued with a new sense of vitality. Saturn – the planet of structure of rules and life lessons – is in fellow water sign Pisces giving you an opportunity to restructure your daily routines in order to experience great spiritual growth. On 27th April the New Moon in your opposite sign of Taurus will call on you to conduct a personal mid-year review – so look back to the New Moon in Scorpio (1st Nov 2024) and assess how you have progressed since then. Harness the energy of April’s New Moon to realign with your intentions. What cherished plans have fallen by the wayside? The New Moon is an unmissable opportunity to recommit to them.

Yoga Practice of the Month: As the New Moon in Taurus marks the halfway point in your own personal astrological year, April is a month to take stock. Try and stay anchored in the meditative aspect of your yoga practice – styles such as hatha and ashtanga will equip you with more clarity. This is a great month to work more deeply with intention (Sankalpa). Refamiliarise yourself with your goals and your unique purpose.

Sagittarius (November 22 to December 21)
With an eclipse in fellow mutable sign Virgo back on 12th March, you’re on the cusp of deep personal transformation. Those transformations may have been stalled by Venus and Mars retrograde but by the middle of April you will be ready to embrace a new project, idea or version of yourself.  There’s an opportunity to develop in the sphere of career and, as the archer of the zodiac, you must be intentional with where you direct your arrows. The Full Moon in Libra on 13th April invites you to reflect on the group dynamics in your life and invites you to step away from any community dynamics that are no longer serving you. On the New Moon in Taurus (27th April) you can set intentions around daily routines and habits that will help you to reach your long term goals.

Yoga Practice of the Month: This is a month to engage with the Warrior Poses. Warrior 1, Warrior 2 and Warrior 3 are all different iterations of energy work. To become the most aligned version of yourself you must become a master of your energy and the Warrior poses help you to stand in your power and to direct your arrows towards your chosen target.

Capricorn (December 22 to January 19)
Your ruler Saturn will meet the North Node in Pisces on 14th April just one day after the Full Moon in Libra. This meeting of the North Node and Saturn should illuminate a new path for you and the Full Moon in Libra will invite you to shed old habits that are no longer serving you. The New Moon in fellow Earth Sign Taurus on 27th is an opportunity to remind yourself of what brings you joy and pleasure. It’s a great day to do something you really enjoy.

Yoga Practice of the Month: You’ll get results this month if you’re tapped into your intuition. To deepen your intuition through your yoga practice work with the Third Eye (Ajna) Chakra. You can harness the power of intuition through meditation or by working attending a Restorative Yoga practice.

Aquarius (January 20 to February 18)
On 13th April there’s a Full Moon in fellow Air sign Libra. This Full Moon may present you with an opportunity for travel. You may choose to book a trip or you may be invited on one. This adventure will also help you to deepen an existing friendship or partnership or it may even be the start of a new one. You are still acclimatising to Pluto entering your sign so your life may be full of changes. As a counterpoint to all the transformational energy, The New Moon in Taurus on 27th April is an invitation to stay home and rest. It’s a moment to pause, reflect and take stock of your life. If you can, schedule some down time on that day.

Yoga Practice of the Month: Stability through change is a key theme for you, dear Aquarius. For this reason I invite you to work this month with balancing poses. Any pose where you’re on one leg such as tree pose(Vrikshasana), dancer’s pose (Natrajasana) or extended hand to big toe pose (Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana) will all equip you with the resilience to navigate through change gracefully.

Pisces (February 19 to March 20)
This is a significant month for you dear Pisces, as Venus, Saturn and the North Node are doing a cosmic dance in your sign. The month of April begins with Venus, the planet of beauty and love, retrograde in your sign. You may be feeling emotional, nostalgic and even a little overwhelmed as Venus retrograde shines its lens on past relationships and excavates buried memories. The good news is that when Venus stations direct on 12th April you will be brimming with new insights and prepared for the beautiful Full Moon in Libra on 13th which asks you to shed any relationship dynamics which no longer serve you. On 14th April you might receive a download about your destiny and the work you need to do in order to align with your highest path. Be open to signs from the cosmos on that day. On April 25th Venus meets Saturn in your sign inviting you to recommit to the things you love.

Yoga Practice for the Month: This is a month to embrace the yogic principle of fiery discipline (Tapas). With Saturn in your sign you have the cosmos supporting you in creating new daily habits that will enhance your well being. Tapas invites you to make a private pact with yourself, promising to do something for self development on a regular basis e.g. yoga class three times a week or meditation for five minutes everyday.
